About Downlands
Rooted in a history that stretches back to 1550, Downlands unfolds across the Surrey–Hampshire borders, revealing a secluded valley threaded with private lakes and ancient woodland on the periphery of the South Downs. At its heart stands the estate’s main house, built in 1750 by Nicholas Kent, its character enriched by heritage buildings such as the 16th-century Sussex Barn. With its flint walls, soaring beams, open fire, and candle-lit dining table, the barn now serves as a dramatic centrepiece to life on the estate.
Downlands is renowned for its dedication to bespoke hospitality and regenerative farming. Whether you’re gathering with family and friends or hosting a corporate retreat, our guests are welcomed into a warm, relaxed setting that feels effortlessly like home.
